Ruby Francis Durham North, 83, youngest of six children of Joseph and Mary Ellen Durham, was born Oct. 19, 1919, at Houston. She died Nov. 6, 2002, at her home at Hurley after a long illness. She attended schools around Houston and graduated from high school at Marland, Okla. In the early ’40s, she worked for the Ozark Telephone Co. as an op-erator. She met and married Carl E. North Jr. of Harvard, Neb., who was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. They had four children. While in service, the Norths traveled the country and Europe, sending their children to school in Oklahoma, Chicago and Germany. Mrs. North worked on the Oklahoma State Food Board Association for 16 years, retiring in 1982. In recent years, the Norths moved to Hurley to help care for her sister, Minnie Butterfield and be near other family members. She was a mem-ber of the Episcopal Church of Bartlesville, Okla. She was preceded in death by her par-ents; two sisters, Minnie Butterfield and Pearl Repp; and three brothers, Charlie, Gilford and Edwin Durham. Surviving are her husband, a re-ired Army major; a daughter, Connie Lou Kisner of Hurley; three sons, Warren of Murrieta, Calif., Terry of Strafford and James of Sands Springs, Okla.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were Nov. 8 at the Meadors Funeral Home at Clever with Chaplain Jack Betts officiating. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Springfield. “
