Members of the community took turns reading to students at Houston Elementary School Friday as part of a NIE activity.
Houston police officer Dustin Hartman, Texas County Memorial Hospital CEO Wes Murray and Houston Herald publisher Brad Gentry were among the readers throughout the day Friday to kindergarten through fifth graders. Another reading day is scheduled for next Friday.
The Newspaper In Education program is sponsored by The Bank of Houston. Copies of the Herald are delivered to students at Houston and Success each week. Every newspaper contains an activity targeted at school children.
