BREAKING: Flooding, Trees Uprooted in County

Remnants of Hurricane Ike swept through Texas County early Sunday, downing trees, causing flooding and closing roads.

Heavy rain accompanied by high winds left their calling card on the county – leaving a small trace of what hit hurricane-striken Texas.

Across Houston trees are down and Brushy Creek went on a rampage, leaving water in some business buildings.

At Dog’s Bluff, the Big Piney River swallowed the area. Some highways were closed for a time, including U.S. 63 between Houston and Cabool at Highway H.

Electricity service is lost in some parts of the county.
