MSTA hires new field coordinator for southwest region

Missouri State Teachers Association members in the southwest region will see a new face this spring.

Beginning March 2, Michael Walsh will be the field service coordinator in the southwest region and assigned to schools in Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Taney, Texas and Wright counties.

Walsh was born and raised in Massachusetts and lives in Branson. He has been an account executive with KYTV in Springfield since 2003. He has a bachelor’s degree in mass media and a minor in political science from College of the Ozarks. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

The switch to MSTA is a major change, but one that Walsh looks forward to.

“What interests me the most is being a part of MSTA, and being able to help and make a difference,” Walsh said.

MSTA is the leading education organization in the state, with more than 44,000 members. The association has served Missouri educators for more than 150 years. The association’s headquarters is in Columbia, with regional offices in St. Louis, Lee’s Summit, Jefferson City, Cape Girardeau and Springfield. MSTA has no national affiliation.
