The Houston Lady Tigers softball team skipped its scheduled tournament at Bakersville Saturday to visit teammate Lyndsey Tarrants at a Springfield hospital, assistant coach Jennifer McNiell said.
Tarrants received moderate injuries in a fatal accident Friday night that killed Andrea J. White, 17, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. White was a senior at Houston High School.
Tarrants was taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital and later transported to Springfield, McNiell said. According to the patrol, neither White or Tarrants were wearing seat belts.
McNiell said Tarrants, the softball team’s starting catcher, had several broken bones but was responsive early Saturday morning.
