Houston’s annual “Taste of Christmas” contest is Saturday at area businesses and organizations.

Cooks deliver their goodies to participating locations from 9 to 10 a.m. Judging occurs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Prizes are awarded.

Here are the locations and categories:

D & L Florist, salsa; Forbes’ Pharmacy, fudge; Houston Herald, candy; Houston Dollar Shoppe, jerky and summer sausage; Quik Cash, pies; Romines Motor Co. Inc., dips; Infinite Entertainment, cheese balls.

Rasberry Leopard, cornbread and muffins; JAZ Trophies, Awards and Gifts, trail mix; Relay for Life, Christmas pudding at the community building; Hardee’s, rollups; Neal’s Sporting Goods, cookies; Orscheln Farm & Homes, jams and jellies; RJ’s Knifeworks, chili; VIP Properties, brownies; Landmark Bank, appetizers; and Aaron’s Rental’s, cakes.

Events are planned the following Saturday at Lone Star Plaza beginning at 3 p.m. A lighting ceremony occurs at 5 p.m. with pictures available with Santa, who will arrive by fire truck, at JAZ Trophies, Awards and Gifts.
