The first snow of 2010 hit Houston early Sunday morning and continued throughout the day, covering roadways and canceling area schools.
By mid afternoon, Houston and Raymondville announced classes were dismissed Monday. The districts were set to resume after a Christmas break.
As of 6 p.m., the Missouri Department of Transportation indicates that many roadways remain partially or completely covered by snow. Motorists are urged to give themselves extra travel time and to keep plenty of distance between themselves and other motorists.
