Geography Bee

A Plato eighth grader is a semifinalist in the 2010 Missouri Geographic Bee.

Nathan McCoy will compete Friday in the state finals at Moberly Area Community College.

Bees were held in the fourth through eighth grades at schools across the state to determine the top winner. School-level winners then took a qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic Society. Students with the top 100 scores in the United States were invited to compete at the state level.

The state winner will represent Missouri in the national finals May 25-26 in Washington, D.C.

McCoy is the son of Terry and Sharon McCoy of Lynchburg.
