The Texas County Commission invited eighth grade students from area schools to participate in “County Government Week” by touring the Texas County Justice Center and the Texas County Administrative Center.

Cabool, Licking, Houston, Plato and Raymondville eighth graders participated. A total of 262 students and 17 adults visited all the departments in both buildings and were told the duties of each office.

Touring the jail seemed to be the favorite among most students. Some were allowed to observe some court proceedings, while others enjoyed Judge Doug Gaston allowing them to have a mock trial.
