Colgate Country Showdown

A local radio station is hosting a talent search as it looks for the next big sensation in country music.

Preliminary rounds of the Colgate Country Showdown will be Saturday, May 22, at Spring Fest in Houston. It is hosted by 92.5 The Grove.

The showdown is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, individuals or groups of up to seven members who have not performed on a record listed in the national record charts of billboard, radio and records or The Gavin Report within 18 months preceding local competition. There is a $15 entry fee per act. All contestants must begin their competition by performing at showdowns produced by participating country music radio stations. There are no age restrictions. A uniform judging system on all levels of competition ensures fairness.

The top 15 acts will advance to a final round June 12 at the 2010 Tri-County Fair. That winner will go to the Arkansas state final in August in Little Rock, and the top performer will advance to the regional finals in South Dakota.

Each regional winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the finals of the Colgate Country Showdown — aired on TV stations across the country –on the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tenn., and a chance to win $100,000.
