If you see smoke bellowing out of the ground in Houston next week, don’t be alarmed.
That’s the word from Houston City Hall, where the announcement came Monday that utility workers will be doing “smoke testing” to identify sewer lines that need replaced.
The target area, said City Administrator Larry Sutton, is east of U.S. 63 and in the downtown business district.
City workers will pump smoke into the system to determine where the leaks are occurring. In case of inclement weather, the testing will occur later.
