Robert E. Price

Robert Eugene Price, 84, of Success, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Licking Park Manor.

He was born April 22, 1926, in Thayer, son of Albert Marion and Dorothea Helen Decker Price. He and Cleo Bernice Boldwyn Price were married on Thanksgiving Day in November 1944 in St. Louis.

He graduated in October 1945 from Bailey Diesel School in St. Louis. He worked as a draftsman, carpenter and many years as a truck driver. He traveled to 48 states, every Canadian province and parts of Mexico. He owned and operated Red Cap Skelly, a 24-hour service station in Houston, for several years. He was a resident of the Houston area most of his life.

After retiring, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his farm, Briar Glynn Curvae Berry Farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cleo of Success; three children, James Edward Price of Excelsior Springs, Sharon Kay Price of Success and Kenneth Irwin Price of Emporia, Kan.; a sister, Norma Lea Price Bridges of Houston; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services were Saturday, July 17, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Elder Jim Price officiating. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice Compasses.
