Nathan Derrickson

A Licking High School graduate has accepted a teaching position in Malaysia.

Nathan Derrickson, 24, accepted a position at Cempaka High School in Selangor, Malaysia, where he teaches English Literature. Cempaka is a private high school that is top rated in Malaysia and is ranked second in the world in math. The school has a 1:10 teacher-student ratio.

Derrickson is a 2004 graduate of Licking High School. He graduated in December 2007 from Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and earned his master’s degree in 2010 from Webster University at Union in international relations. Before his move to Malaysia, he taught at Salem High School.

He and his wife, Sylvia, reside in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Sylvia is a 2010 graduate of Missouri Science and Technology. She is employed as a petroleum engineer by Petronas Oil Company.
