Candidates on the Aug. 7 ballot filed campaign finance information before a July 16 deadline.

Spending for a Texas County judge’s race totaled nearly $40,000, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

Records show that Doug Gaston of Houston spent about $25,000 in his bid to win a four-year term for associate circuit judge. His rival, Brad Eidson of Houston, spent about $14,000, according to the reports.

Gaston defeated Eidson in the Republican Primary. He faces no opposition in the General Election in November.
