A 64-year-old man houses at the South Central Correctional Center died Saturday.

Authorities are searching the area for three inmates who escaped Sunday morning from the Howell County Jail at West Plains.

The trio broke out around 6:30 a.m.

Authorities say the three men overpowered a jailer, swiped his keys and stole his truck. The county employee was taken to Ozarks Medical Center for treatment.

The men left in a 2007 white Chevrolet single cab truck with a Missouri license plate number of 4AJ-189.

Missing are 26-year-old Daniel Wilson, 33-year-old Carey Reese and 21-year-old Shawn Clark.

Court records show that Wilson is being held on felony theft charges. Reese is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, all felonies. Clark was charged in August with tampering with vehicle and resisting arrest.

Deputies do not believe the men are armed. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said they do have pepper spray and handcuffs.
