Robert G. Morgan

A Houston man faces two felony charges after he reportedly stuck a knife through the foot of his newlywed wife, according to the Houston Police Department.

After being married only about a week earlier, Robert G. Morgan and Stormy D. Morgan were involved last Thursday in an incident at their home at 513 Phelps Street that resulted in Robert Morgan being arrested and charged with two felonies: first degree domestic assault (Class A) and armed criminal action.

Police said the arrest occurred after Stormy, 34, reportedly told Robert, 37, she was leaving. He subsequently stabbed her in the top of the left foot. The weapon, a folding, wooden handled knife approximately four inches long, penetrated the victim’s shoe, causing a laceration about 1 ½ inches long and a half-inch wide.

Authorities said Stormy hopped across the street to a neighbor’s house, and the neighbor took her to Texas County Memorial Hospital.

Robert, who in March 2008 was convicted of third-degree domestic assault in Howell County, was taken to the Texas County Jail and held on $750,000 bail.

The couple had been living with friends during their short time of marriage. With assistance from the primary tenant of the residence, police officers found the knife the next day on top of a bathroom cabinet.

Robert was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
