Military veteran

Edward Terry Eden, 61, of Houston, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at St. John’s Regional Health Center following a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 30, 1949, in Niangua, son of Leamon Lee and Eliza Maxine McRoberts Eden.

He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a communication specialist, airman first class.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 19 and surrendered to God’s call to preach. He pastored Thornfield Southern Baptist and Competition Southern Baptist churches. His latest pastoral service was at the Maness Memorial Southern Baptist Church in Cabool.

His vocation was a classroom teacher at Competition, Gasconade C-4 and Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Karen of the home; two daughters, Nicki Jones of Grovespring and Janelle Olson of Lebanon; a son, Jeremy Eden of Norwood; a brother, Russ Eden of Fair Grove; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Services were Friday, Jan. 28, at Maness Memorial Baptist Church in Cabool with the Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
