Military veteran

James “Jim” Allen Miller, 63, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Kansas City Veterans Hospital.

He was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Ottawa, Ill., son of Martin Henry and Audrey Robinson Miller. He and Patricia L. Eckert were married April 3, 1980.

He served in the Army from 1969-’70. He was active in the American Legion Post #559 in Licking.

He loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed watching wildlife. He like helping people — his family and most of all teaching his grandsons how to hunt and fish — and spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandra Halterman; and two brothers, Gary Miller and Jerry Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Patty of the home in Summersville; two daughters, Dawn Marie Wiltfong of Marsailles, Ill., and Cassandra Wilson of Eunice; two brothers, Michael Miller of Raymondville and Donald Miller of Summersville; two sisters, Carol Ann Lewis and Lavonne Sarver of Ottawa, Ill.; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services with full military honors are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, in Bell Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Services are under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
