A class on canning is planned at three area locations.

Ozarks Self Reliant Living University will hold classes on how to can this month at three locations, according to Deb Slack, heritage studies instructor.

The topic will be preserving the harvest without refrigeration, using canning the way your grandmother did, but better and easier.

Gardening classes will be held Saturday, July 13, in Willow Springs at the Ferguson Building; Saturday, July 20, at the Koshkonong Senior Center; and Sunday, July 21, at the Next Step 7th Day Adventist Church in West Plains. All classes are from 1 to 3 p.m., and all classes are free.

OSLU provides free classes in life skills of past generations that are needed to feed and care for families, including gardening, food preservation, soap making, cheese and yogurt making, baking and many other skills for healthy, happy living.
