Inclement weather has cancelled the annual Houston Christmas parade.
The Houston Sorosis Club, which organizes the event, announced the decision Friday morning. It will not be rescheduled.
“After driving the parade lineup area and the parade route (and with) a winter weather advisory in effect until tomorrow morning and another storm in the extended forecast, we have decided it is the safest decision for our parade participants and the community,” said April Arnold, president of the Houston Sorosis Club.
Arnold said the organization will still host the Miss Merrie Christmas pageant at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds.
