Firemen from multiple departments worked to keep flying embers from high winds away from a home as they battled a barn blaze Friday night north of Houston.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at 7:50 p.m. to 8281 Keenview Road. The barn on the property, which sits about 30 yards from the residence was fully engulfed. The Keeney family owns the property.

Firefighters sprayed nearby trees and the back of the home to keep the fire from spreading. Additional water from area departments aided in preventing the blaze from spreading.

There was a high risk of fire danger Friday due to dry and windy conditions. Summersville’s fire department was called about 5:40 p.m. to a grass fire off Highway YY.
