A benefit event for 23-year-old Houston resident Ann Marie Stevenson is set for Feb. 22 in downtown Houston.
Called “A Day of Wellness,” the event is being coordinated by Kathie Bruns, owner of Serenity Wellness Studio on Main Street, and will also feature Jennifer Crowl and her staff from Blissful Nirvana Massage in Houston. Activities will kick off with a “bootcamp workout” at 6:30 a.m., and continue with a stationary bike “spin-a-thon,” a “zumba-thon” and yoga. Chair massages will be available for $1 dollar a minute with a 15-minute minimum, and training segments will cost $5 per 30-minute segment. A silent auction will also take place and refreshments will be served.
All proceeds will go toward medical and other expenses incurred by Stevenson, who on Jan. 28 endured the amputation of her left foot resulting from a nine-year battle with an arterioventricular malformation.
Businesses adjacent to Serenity’s location at 115 W. Main have offered to allow use of their space during the event, including Farmers Insurance and GiGi’s Nails. Business and private sponsorships are welcome. For information, or to reserve a training time slot, call or text Bruns at 417-247-1166.
