A Houston man who allegedly had a small marijuana growing operation at his home inside the city limits – including flowerpots on his back deck and a special setup in his basement – faces a pair of felony charges.
Jeffery M. Cosby, 47, is held on $500,000 bond in the Texas County Jail following his arrest last Monday by the Houston Police Department. Along with felony possession of a controlled substance (35 grams or less of marijuana), he is also charged with manufacturing or attempting to manufacture marijuana within 2,000 feet of a school or college. His residence at 6925 S. U.S. 63 – behind the former Pit Stop – is near Texas County Technical College.
Houston police, who received consent from Cosby to search his property, found seven marijuana plants on the back deck. A further search of the property revealed more plants in a growing area in the basement with special lighting.
The South Central Drug Task Force and Texas County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation.
