Two Houston residents were injured Wednesday morning in an accident on Interstate 44 in Rolla.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Tommy B. Lewis, 71, was driving eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle on wet pavement and traveled into the path of a 2013 Freightliner Box Truck driven by Robert D. Lange, 68, of Florissant. Lewis’ vehicle then traveled off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck a drainage ditch and tree.
Lewis had minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. A passenger, Robert P. Jones, 63, had moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Lange was uninjured. Everyone involved were wearing seat belts.
Lewis’ 1998 Chrysler Sebring was totaled.
