A Mountain Grove teenager was charged with driving while intoxicated as well as careless and imprudent driving Wednesday night when his vehicle sideswiped another, traveled into a ditch and overturned.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Slayton R. McGowan, 19, refused treatment at the scene of the 10:30 p.m. accident on Red Springs Road near Mountain Grove. His 2005 Dodge pickup was totaled.
The patrol said the accident occurred when McGowan’s westbound vehicle sideswiped an eastbound 1988 GMC truck driven by Daniel T. Cooper, 18, of Mountain Grove. Cooper, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured. McGowan was not wearing a seat belt.
Cooper’s pickup had extensive damage.
McGowan was taken to the Mountain Grove Police Department and released following the accident.
