A Summersville man escaped injuries Monday afternoon in a six-vehicle accident on Interstate 44 in Lawerence County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Ricky U. Smith, 51, was the fourth vehicle in the wreck that began when one vehicle rear-ended another, setting off a chain reaction. He was wearing his seat belt.
Three people – in the first and fifth vehicles in the accident – were taken to Cox South Hospital with minor injuries. All were wearing seat belts.
Smith’s 2003 Pontiac Sunfire had moderate damage. It was towed from the scene.
