Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations. 

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 58-year-old Licking woman reported Sept. 7 that a window had been stolen from a shed at her U.S. 63 residence and about two gallons of gas swiped out of a lawnmower stored inside.

•A 61-year-old Cabool man came to the TCSD office Sept. 4 to report a 2003 Dodge pickup of his had been stolen from his Berry Road residence. The man said his 19-year-old daughter had swiped the truck and had done it before.

On Sept. 5, a Willow Springs police officer reported initiating a traffic stop on the truck. It was held for retrieval by its owner at the Willow Springs police station.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a felony charge against the suspect of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

•A deputy responded to a report of a gunshot victim at Texas County Memorial Hospital on Aug. 28.

The officer made contact with a 30-year-old Solo man at the hospital, who had a bullet wound in his foot.

The man stated he had been target practicing with a .22-caliber weapon, when he accidentally discharged it at his foot.

•A deputy investigated a report of a stolen truck on Sept. 6.

A 63-year-old woman told the officer a 34-year-old Bucyrus man had been fired from his job at an Emery Road farm had not returned a white 2001 Ford F-150.

The truck has reported been missing since June 30. The woman said the suspect might be in Joplin.

•A Licking woman reported someone yelling on Deer Run Drive at about 9 p.m. Sept. 4. An investigating officer was unable to locate anyone.

•A 49-year-old Success woman called on Sept. 4 to report that a 48-year-old woman who is her roommate had stolen her underwear and pushed her. An investigating deputy made contact with the suspect, who denied both claims.

The officer advised the women of a 12-hour rule to stay separated.

•A deputy responded to a 911 request to go to a house fire with people possibly inside on Turley Road at Plato at about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 3. While the deputy was at the scene, the man who owns the home showed up and said nobody was inside.
