2016 Election

Secretary of State Jason Kander today announced the unofficial voter turnout in yesterday’s primary election was 24.8 percent. More than 1 million registered Missouri voters turned out to nominate party candidates for the November general election.

Texas County was above the state average with a 29.02 percent turnout. Texas County Clerk Kris Neal reported 4,699 of the county’s 16,194 voters made it to the polls.

“I want to thank the Missourians who made their voices heard by casting a ballot in this election,” Kander said. “I especially want to thank the local election authorities and poll workers for their hard work in the days leading up to the election and especially on Election Day itself.”

Not included in the unofficial turnout numbers are provisional and overseas absentee ballots, which will be tallied when the election is certified. According to state law, final results will be certified approximately four weeks after Election Day.
