Hartsburg resident Jakob Conner is currently working at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, south of New Zealand. Conner, 30, is a contractor for the Texas-based GHG Corporation and is an electronics and communications technician and coordinator who travels to remote, desolate sites to maintain and repair communication equipment and antennas. He is currently on his second assignment in Antarctica after working there in September and October of 2014 (September is winter in Antarctica, and Conner said the temperature reached minus 77 Farenheit).
