Off the grid farming

Houston resident Caleb Arthur sits with his son, Deacon, on a solar-powered tractor used to run implements at the Houston Harvest CSA farm. Arthur is founder and CEO of Missouri Sun Solar, and the farm is 100-percent off grid and everything is solar powered – from the well pump for water irrigation, the battery-powered zero turn lawn mower, battery-powered weed eater and the tractor. “We call it a zero fossil fuel farm,” Arthur said. “Everything that doesn’t have a solar panel attached to it is recharged off the solar array on the barn.
