Laird Paul Berkeley Ashton, 70, of Houston, Mo., passed away Sept. 1, 2016, at Phelps County Regional Hospital, Rolla, Mo. Paul was born June 16, 1946, to Paul Laird and Yvonne (Toolen) Ashton in Santa Barbara, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul married Alaine Mooney in July 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Alaine of the home in Houston, Mo.; two sons, Keith Ashton and wife, Cathy Tutor, of Simmons, Mo., and Kevin Mooney and wife, Tiffany, of Cabool, Mo.; six grandsons, Patrick Ashton, Tyler Parsons, Trenton Parsons, Liam Mooney and Ashton Mooney and Randall Tutor; two granddaughters, Rachael Mister and Courtney Burnworth; and his sister, Yvonne P. Ashton of Santa Barbara, Calif.
Paul served in the United States Navy from March 8, 1967 to March 11, 1970.
Paul was honorably discharged as a SR in San Francisco, Calif. Paul was a business real estate manager in California for many years.
Paul retired, and he and Alaine moved to Missouri in 1999. He loved tinkering on hot rods, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and singing doo wop with his wife, Alaine.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Evans Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. Pallbearers were Kevin Mooney, Keith Ashton, Randall Turner, John Phillips, Matt McGiboney and Marshall Bernard. Honorary pallbearer was Patrick Ashton.
