Houston sophomore Kennedy Campbell hits past a pair of Skyline defenders.

A chance to win at home narrowly escaped the Houston High School volleyball team.

The Lady Tigers took the opening set of last Thursday’s match and were serving to do the same in the second. But Skyline stayed alive, forced a third set and won 23-25, 29-27, 25-18.

Emily Shea had nine kills and sophomore Tara Stanton added eight. Chloe Hunninghake and Alexis Choate had 13 assists apiece. Stanton had four blocks and Sevanna Rowland had four aces.

“At this point in the season with our record, it would be easy to give up but they kept pushing,” Lady Tigers coach Lauren Richardson said. “We just had too many unforced errors.”

Houston (1-22) also lost in straight sets last Tuesday to West Plains.
