Houston’s annual Christmas parade begins at 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Houston.

Angie Quinlan, executive director of the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, said lineup occurs at 1 p.m. at the Hiett Gymnasium parking lot. There is still time to enter, and she’s hoping more do. The chamber’s telephone number is 417-967-2220.

Tours of the Civil War era Lynch-Tweed house are 3-6 p.m. Saturday. The home is under restoration and will be period decorated for the holiday. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge.

A tree lighting at the chamber’s fairgrounds on North U.S. 63 is 6 p.m. Friday. Santa and Mrs. Claus — along with hot chocolate and cookies — also will be available beginning around 6:30 p.m.
