Edith Helen Deigel, 91, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at The Bluffs nursing home in Columbia.
She was born Dec. 18, 1925, in Beuthen, Poland.
She lived in Germany through much of her early life before marrying William “Bill” E. Deigel in 1950 and moving to the United States. They traveled to different areas around the country and in Europe. They settled in the Houston area in 1968.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa R. Freese; two sons, Axel Deigel and Clarence Deige; a sister, Ola Arlt of Darmstadt, Germany; three grandchildren; and countless friends.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Visitation is 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Pine Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1500 S. Glenstone Ave., Springfield Mo. 65804.
