Authorities said an elderly couple was in the process of moving into the larger structure in the background, and lost numerous items that were still in the smaller one that burned.

Firefighters with two local departments responded late Friday morning to a fire that destroyed a singlewide mobile home on Suzan Lane in Bucyrus.

Roby Volunteer Fire Department Chief Keith Follin said a tanker and an engine from his department, an engine from the Houston Rural department and a total of seven personnel answered the call at about 11 a.m.

Follin said an elderly couple was in the process of moving from the home to a larger one adjacent to it and lost numerous items that were still inside the smaller on. He said the cause of the blaze wasn’t known.

On Sunday, personnel from the Raymondville and Summersville fire departments responded at 6 a.m. to 5980 Pine Flat Drive in Eunice, where a fire was reported under a home. The fire was brought under control around 8 a.m.; thermal imaging equipment was used to detect it.

Temperatures were in single digits at the time.
