Second-quarter surge leads to another SCA win

A big second quarter kept the HHS Lady Tigers unbeaten in conference play.

The Lady Tigers outscored Ava 22-7 in the second quarter last Thursday night to turn a one-point deficit into a double-digit lead. HHS cruised to a 52-40 road victory.

Senior Abby Casper scored a game-high 19 points as the Lady Tigers 3-0 in the South Central Association. Jaydin Ramsey added 10 points on her 18th birthday.

Houston was behind 11-10 after the opening eight minutes. But that deficit quickly turned into an advantage. Six different players scored in the second quarter – led by a pair of Chloe Hunninghake 3-pointers – as the Lady Tigers led 32-18 at the break.

On Monday, Casper led three players in double figures with 24 points as the Houston Lady Tigers beat Cabool 55-42 Monday night in the Thayer Winter Classic.

Ramsey added 12 points and Kaitlyn Root had 11 for the Lady Tigers, who won their third straight game. Houston (7-6) also climbed over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

HHS played Willow Springs on Tuesday night in the tournament.

JUNIOR VARSITY
