Troop G K9 retires

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop G commanding officer Capt. Mark Inman, right, announced the K9 unit assigned to Troop G – Dak – is retiring. Dak is a six-year-old German shepherd and has worked in Troop G for the past five years. He will retire due to his handler –Trooper Michael Greenan, left – transferring to another position within the Patrol. Dak is trained in drug detection, tracking and protection, and during his career in Troop G, he and Greenan have been involved in 1,209 criminal arrests. Dak responded to 409 requests for service by city, county, state as well as federal oficers. He is also well known to children in Troop G schools, where he did programs demonstrating his abilities. “His services were in high demand,” Inman said. Dak will live out his retirement years at Greenan’s home.
