A Summersville man was injured Tuesday morning when he fell asleep while driving, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Shawn L. Robinson, 30, was driving northbound three miles north of Summersville on Highway 17 when the 8:10 a.m. accident occurred, the patrol said. The 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer he was driving ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a fence and tree.

Robinson, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle had extensive damage.
