A Plato teenager was flown to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident Monday afternoon east of his hometown.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Alan M. Rodts, 16, was traveling eastbound on Highway 32 when the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving ran off the right side of the highway. Rodts then overcorrected, the patrol said, and the truck went off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Rodts, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. He was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital.

The 2:05 p.m. wreck was two miles east of Plato. The vehicle was totaled.
