A Licking teenager was injured early Friday morning after falling asleep while driving.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Chase A. Dutton, 19, was traveling westbound 10 miles west of Salem on Highway 32 when the 12:20 a.m. accident occurred. After Dutton’s 1997 Chevrolet pickup ran off the left side of the road, the patrol said he overcorrected and ran off the right side of the roadway. The truck then overturned.

Dutton, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Salem Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. The truck had moderate damage.
