Jeff Case, director of USDA Rural Development in Missouri, speaks on Wednesday of last week at the Melba Theatre in downtown Houston. Case highlighted the importance of the agency’s work in rural Missouri. Earlier, members of his agency were at the Cabool branch of the Texas County Library, which underwent an expansion and remodeling as part of a Texas County Library Foundation project. USDA Rural Development provided equipment grants for that project and for the recently completed major renovation of the Melba Theatre (an effort spearheaded by Downtown Houston Inc.). Joining Case in Houston were representatives of Sens. Roy Blunt and Claire Mc- Caskill, Rep. Jason Smith and the City of Houston. A roundtable discussion also was held Wednesday afternoon at TCMH.
