The organization is dedicated to the betterment of Houston and its downtown business district. The organization has undertaken several projects, and in 2017 launched the renovation of the Melba Performing Arts Center on Grand Avenue in Houston. It was constructed in 1938.

GIRL SCOUTS
Houston Girl Scout Troop 70166 meets the first and third Wednesdays October through May for girls in grades K-8. Along with learning oaths and badges, girls are taught confidence, courage and character. Signup events are in August or September but new members are welcome to join anytime.
