Gilbert Edwin Ebert, 75, son of Elmer and Clara McGowan Ebert, was born April 2, 1931, at Lesterville. He died March 23, 2007, at his home at Houston after a lengthy illness.
He grew up in the Edgar Springs area. As a young man, he was a merchant marine on the Great Lakes for Inland Steel.
He married Mildred Delores Sanders Dec. 17, 1954. They had four children.
Mr. Ebert drove a gasoline truck for about 30 years for Rees Oil Co. Later, he drove an over-the-road truck. His hobbies included flying radio-controlled planes and riding motorcycles.
He accepted Christ three years ago.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; brothers, Willard, Ray and Clarence; and a sister, Mary Fields.
Surviving are his children, Floyd Ebert of Cabool, Lloyd Ebert of Willow Springs, Kathy Evans of Houston and Karen Meyer of Rolla; brother, Richard Ebert of Houston; sisters, Gladys Giesler of Cocoa, Fla., Shirley Lemonick of St. Pete Beach, Fla., and Fay Topper of Elgin, Ill.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and special friend, Betty Cooper.
Services were March 26 at the Brown Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Gayer and the Rev. Terry Snelling officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
