Firefighters from Houston’s rural and city departments responded Thursday evening to a structure fire near West Highway 17 and Bryan Street.
Flames were seen shooting out of the garage, situated just west of Texas County Memorial Hospital’s home health agency, at about 8:30 p.m.Â
City of Houston Fire chief Don Rust said the blaze began next door.
“There were neighbors who were illegally burning some building materials,” Rust said.
Rust said that between the two departments, 14 firefighters responded to the scene. Two vehicles and several power tools that were stored in the building were lost to the fire.
