Vera B. Mehsling, 90, daughter of Warren C. and Retta Bell Smith, was born Sept. 12, 1910, at Fennimore, Wis. She died Feb. 28, 2001, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. She married Melvin Mehsling and was a member of the Licking United Methodist Church. The Mehslings lived outside Licking on a farm and operated the movie theater in town in the ’50s and ’60s. She worked for Steinnerd Tax Service in the early ’60s. They lived in different states, settling in Wisconsin until Mr. Mehsling’s death in 1985. She moved back to Licking. She was preceded in death by a brother, Warren D. Smith, in 1981. Surviving are a niece and great-nieces. Services were March 1 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with the Rev. Gary Carter officiating. Burial was in the Boone Creek Cemetery.”
