Walter George Miller, 80, son of Max G. and Minnie Blum Miller, was born May 21, 1920, at Chicago, Ill. He died Feb. 13, 2001, at his home near Tyrone. He married Rita Woitas October 1941. They had two sons. He married Jerry Shriver October 1978. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Navy from September 1943 until December 1945 on the USS Frybarger. He was a member of the Nagle Christian Church for 21 years. He loved music and enjoyed playing the organ for family and friends. He had a love for woodworking and spent hours in his workshop. Due to failing health, he was unable to continue woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rita; one son, Kenneth; a stepson, Tom Shriver; and two sisters, Margaret Wilcox and Gertrude Kielminski. Surviving are his wife, Jerry of the home; one son, Walter Jr. of Fayetteville, Ark.; a stepson, Gary Shriver of Elk Creek; a stepdaughter, Tina Wilson of Willard; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were Feb. 16 at the Nagle Christian Church with David Ingalls officiating. Burial was in the Nagle Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Care. “
