Nan Clara Moberly, 96, a former Texas County resident, died March 5, 2001, at Rideout Memorial Hospital at Yuba City, Calif. A retired school teacher, she was born at Winona and lived in Yuba-Sutter for the last six years. She was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and Columbia University in New York City. Mrs. Moberly was a teacher in the business department at Sherman Unified School District in Sherman, Texas. In addition, she was an evening instructor at Grayson County College in Texas for many years. She also was an independent real estate dealer and agent, retiring in 1982 after 10 years. She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, the Rebecca Lodge, Iris Club, American Association of University Women, Business and Professional Women’s Club and Altrusa International. She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Moberly, a former Texas County prosecuting attorney and state representative; and eight siblings. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Moberly of Yuba City, Calif.; one son, Davis Moberly of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Pat Roberts of Republic; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the United Methodist Church in Sherman Texas. Burial will be in May at Summersville.”
