Thela Alma Howell, 79, daughter of Bert Sherrill and Ethel Craft Sherrell, was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Shannon County. She died Aug. 2, 2002, at her home. She married Walter Fred Howell April 6, 1941. They had seven children. Mrs. Howell was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Eminence. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and one sister, Marjorie Campbell Clouse. Surviving are her children, Beverly Gill, Brenda Howell, Barbara Henry and Patricia Dean of St. Louis, Freddie Howell and Michael Howell of Eminence and William Howell of Ilion, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Wanda Blunkall and Roger Campbell; and special friend and caretaker, Wendy Spurgeon. Services were Aug. 4 at the Church of God of Prophecy at Eminence with the Rev. Bud Younger officiating. Burial was in the Pilgram Rest Cemetery at Timber under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville. “
