Betty Lou Hall, 72, daughter of Virgil and Minnie Shelton, was born March 22, 1931, at Nelson. She died Jan. 12, 2004, at her home at Houston. Mrs. Hall grew up on a farm near Houston and was a 1949 graduate of Houston High School. She married James R. Hall Nov. 3, 1951. They traveled to several states and countries during his 20 years in the Army. After retiring from the service, the family moved to Springfield for 30 years until 1997, when they returned to Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Fern Shied, Ruth Dial and Edna Mae Shelton; and one brother, Wilfred Shelton. Surviving are her husband of the home at Houston; one daughter, Janet Lee Venable of Houston; one son, James V. Hall of Dixon; one sister, Jessie McMillin of Houston; and five grandchildren. The body was cremated under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool. Memorial services will be at a later date at Pine Lawn Cemetery at Houston. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. “
