William A. “”Bill”” Shelton, 86, son of William and Icy Flowers Shelton, was born April 13, 1919, at Houston. He died Aug. 19, 2005, at his home at Success.Mr. Shelton served in the Army from June 24, 1942, through Dec. 6, 1945, in the European and Pacific theaters.He became a member of the Union Free Will Baptist Church Jan. 20, 1957, where he was ordained as a deacon in November 1964.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ruth; daughters, Karla Mansfield of Houston and Bonnie Pittman of Springfield; two sisters, Lillian Wheeler of Houston and Doris Hill of Eldorado, Kan.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Services were Aug. 23 at the Union Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Postlewaite officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Lane Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Care. “
